Fleet Focus ~ AU03HWS

Another in the fleet focus series, featuring this week Optare Solo AU03HWS.

AU03HWS was new to Anglian Bus in 2003, she was given fleet number 300 and she was originally brought to run the Broadshopper service when Anglian won the new tendered contract from Norfolk County Council, which means she was one of the buses to be branded for the BroadsHopper.

The BroadsHopper provided a frequent service between Acle and Aylsham, in between it called in on other villages around the Norfolk broads including Upton, South Walsham & Wroxham.

The BroadsHopper was a particularly interesting service as it most of the time had a bike trailer attached to enable easy travel around the broads, and to encourage eco travel.
The picture to the right shows AU03HWS and her trailer in service in Aylsham in 2005.

When the broads hopper service ended in around late 2006 she was put on to Norwich duties for a short period before being sold to Neaves of  Catfield, only to resume work in the fine city.
